Every Wednesday at 3pm (weather permitting) FullCycle holds a free Worm Farm Demonstration at the kids playground at Noordhoek Farm Village, where you can learn about having your own worm farm, managing your worm farm and fascinating facts about earthworms!

FullCycle believes that waste produced by human activity is unsustainable yet avoidable. FullCycle is committed to reducing waste and promoting sustainable development through innovative products and services.

FullCycle is an eco- business owned and managed by women. Sitting on the Top of Kilimanjaro!

Congratulations to our energetic duo and local environmentalists from FullCycle - Mary and Helen who reached the summit of Kilimanjaro on 1 January 2010 at 7:55am.

Mary and Helen spent many hours in 2009 training on the local peaks in preparation for the summit attempt of Kilimanjaro - and the good news is that the efforts paid off and they made it!!! Mary says they arrived at Gillmans Point at 6:30am on 1 Jan 2010 as the Full Moon was setting over Kenya and the new moon was rising over Tanzania. "It was supremely beautiful and emotional" says Mary.

We look forward to a full trip report! We are so proud of you for getting Noordhoek to the top! You both look so fresh. Well done.

We’re green and we’re on the Map!

Noordhoek Farm Village is committed to the growing green consciousness movement and we are proud supporters of the City of Cape Town’s initiative of providing an extensive list of "green spaces, nature reserves, organic eateries, farmers' markets, recycling drop-offs, sustainable living projects, eco products, green accommodation and other green choices" in and around Cape Town. The Cape Town Green Map has joined the Green Map movement - a community of over four thousand local green living sites around the world. www.capetowngreenmap.co.za

Cape Town, arguably, happens to be one of the most spectacular settings on the planet. The unique environment is its greatest and most fragile assets. Noordhoek is one of the greenest spaces within our city and Noordhoek Farm Village have made a green lifestyle choice to be part of preserving our corner of the planet.

Noordhoek Farm Village is on the map as a featured area for the recycling depot. The depot is maintained by NEAG and we thank Karoline Hanks and her team for their efforts in recycling glass; cans & tins; cardboard & paper. Please bring your recycling when you next visit the village. An estimated 15% of the total waste stream of Noordhoek is recycled from this facitility. This substantial recycling of waste in the South Peninsula area reduces the need for landfill facilities in the UNICITY and also results in a more efficient use of primary resources for our country.

Noordhoek FullCycle is committed to reducing waste through innovative products and services.

Noordhoek FullCycle has set up a large vermicomposting site at its offices in Noordhoek. The food waste from three restaurants at the Noordhoek Farm Village is collected daily and fed to the worms. In keeping with Noordhoek FullCycle's commitment to low technology, low energy solutions (and converting waste into a beneficial resource) the 'waste' is collected by bicycle and trailer, and the vermicompost and vermitea are to be used in the gardens at the Noordhoek Farm Village. They are also on the Map!

De Noordhoek Hotel remains committed to operating using responsible tourism guidelines. De Noordhoek Hotel prides themselves on being the first hotel in Cape Town to employ solar heating for all their hot water needs. Low energy lighting, water saving showers, separation of waste for recycling, food waste management and general design efficiency all contribute to their responsible tourism ethic. The hotel garden, with the exception of four lemon trees, is indigenous and water wise. Dining tables have been manufactured utilising recycled timber by a local entrepreneur, and personnel employed are all from households within a 10km radius of the hotel.
