Soccer and the 2010 FIFA World Cup tournament may be the buzz word in South African sporting circles but rugby will never die in the hearts and souls of many a sport loving fan.
The Toad is a rugby and sports loving gentleman and he is very excited that the 2nd Cape Town Tens tournament will be played in Cape Town this weekend (Sat 6 - Sun 7 February) at Hamilton's Rugby club. This world class event in world class suroundings has local Noordhoek team - the Noordhoek vikings participating in the tournament and the Toad is heading to Hamilton's in support of our local boys as their main sponsor.
So sports fans - the news is that the Toad will be CLOSED FOR BUSINESS on Saturday 6 Feb 2010 as everyone from the Toad is heading to Hamiltons and the Cape Town Tens Tournament. Have no fear, the rest of the village will be open as usual and the Toad will be having a ripper with Crimson Live on Friday and Sunday is Wind Down with Mac and Maurice.

For those who don't know Cape Town Tens is a unique ten-man rugby tournament that celebates the spirit of rugby. Each team has 5 forwards and 5 backs and combines a combination of 15 man rugby and 7's rugby. The game is fun and exciting as it's high scoring and high action. Scrums, lineouts, big hits, rucking and extra space, speed and skill are required to make it as a winner!
There are 4 divisions this year: the premier division (for top-level players who also want fun off the field); the beer division (for those who want to have fun off the park!) adn the veteran division (for those golden oldies who still want to be playing... and having fun off the field) and the new Services division (for eveyone that protects us in some way - police, amy, navy, firefighters etc.. who also want some fun!) All divisions play a round robin on Saturday, with the top teams going though to the knockout stages and bottom teams dropping to the plate and bowl sections. Tickets are available at Computicket or at the gates on Satuday morning. Saturday tickets are R50 and Sunday tickets are R30. For more information please visit www.capetowntens.com

There is a big party too - beer tent will show the Stomers match on a massive big screen and Noordhoek's very own "Me and Mr Brown" will be setting the mood alongside an amazing gig outfit from the UK called "the Light Years" - they are GREAT! You can download their South African inspired song here: http://bit.ly/dcTYAa.

Noordhoek Farm Village wishes the Noordhoek Vikings good luck in the tournament and thanks the Toad for supporting our local boys. Reminder that the Toad is closed on Saturday 6 February but Cafe Roux and the Foodbarn Restaurant and the Foodbarn Bakery and Deli will be open along with all the other stores.
Looking forward to a great weekend! Good luck Noordhoek Vikings.
