The popular Flying Dutchman funicular at Cape Point is to be replaced by a comfortable, more modern and more efficient funicular during the first quarter of 2010. The current funicular – the only commercial operation of its kind in Africa – has been ferrying tourists up a steep incline from the bottom station to the old lighthouse for the past 13 years. Although the funicular service will be suspended for three months, tourists will not be inconvenienced, thanks to a temporary bus service...
Congratulations to our energetic duo and local environmentalists from FullCycle - Mary and Helen who reached the summit of Kilimanjaro on 1 January 2010 at 7:55am. Mary and Helen spent many hours in 2009 training on the local peaks in preparation for the summit attempt of Kilimanjaro - and the good news is that the efforts paid off and they made it!!! Mary says they arrived at Gillmans Point at 6:30am on 1 Jan 2010 as the Full Moon was setting over Kenya and the new moon was rising over Tanzania...

Happy faces enjoyed themselves under the shady oaks, and the restaurants had record breaking numbers as everyone celebrated the end of 2009! Noordhoek Farm Village was (and still is!) open 7 days a week and all our visitors seemed to comment on the relaxed atmosphere at the village. Holiday season and summer in Cape Town is traditionally a busy time of year but our guests seemed to appreciate the calmness...

Despite the tough times, the village has remained a happy, relaxed place filled with superstars who really are the power and presence behind the atmosphere at Noordhoek Farm Village. At the Noordhoek Farm village year end function held at Noordhoek...

'eMzantsi' means 'in the South' in isiXhosa, and the eMzantsi Carnival is all about celebrating the people and culture of Cape Town's south peninsula. The 2009 eMzantsi Carnival will take place on Saturday 5th December , and as it is the fifth time the annual event has been staged, it seems appropriate to make the theme " The Big 5 ". But the indigenous animals we aim to celebrate are not lions, giraffes or elephants but our local wildlife: the penguin, the whale, the...
